Expert's Biography:
Seiko Goto, Ph.D., joined Rutgers as an assistant professor in the department of landscape architecture in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences in 2006. She holds a bachelor's degree from Tokyo National University of Fine Art and Music, master's degrees in landscape architecture and horticulture from Harvard and Chiba universities, respectively, and a Ph.D. in the history of Japanese gardens from Chiba University.

Goto has written extensively on Japanese gardens and had numerous articles published in English and Japanese journals of landscape architecture. She also has taught courses at the universities of Toronto and Manitoba in Canada.
