Peter A. Gold has been appointed associate provost for economic initiatives on the Camden campus.

In his new position, Gold will serve as the chief executive officer of the Rutgers-Camden Technology Campus, Inc., which nurtures approximately 35 new businesses and helps them to succeed in southern New Jersey. The business incubator provides the equivalent of 75 new full-time jobs in Camden. Gold also will be responsible for developing initiatives that will leverage Rutgers research and service expertise with external organizations to promote economic growth in New Jersey and in the greater metro Philadelphia region.

As a co-founder of the incubator, which launched in 2003, Gold was instrumental in securing the organization’s startup funding. He played a key role in obtaining an $850,000 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Authority to create a venture capital fund associated with the incubator.

The incubator’s founding executive director, Frank Keith, will retire from that role next year and will continue to serve the program as executive director emeritus.
Immediately prior to joining Rutgers-Camden, Gold was a full equity partner in Blank Rome, one of the nation’s 100 largest law and government relations firms, where he served on the board of directors and the political action committee.

He serves as government relations committee chair for the New Jersey Technology Council; on the executive committee of the Global Interdependent Center; and on the external relations committee of the Evergreens in Moorestown.

Gold received his bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University and his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Temple Law School.
