With well more than half of the $880,000 it needs to publish the Encyclopedia of New Jersey in hand, the Rutgers University Press hosted an event Sept. 27 in Winants Hall to honor the donors and legislators who are helping the press meet its fund-raising goal.
The encyclopedia, to be published in 2002, will serve as the definitive source of information about the state for specialists and the general public.
A $300,000 appropriation, spearheaded by Assemblyman Leonard Lance, came from the state, while foundations and individual donors contributed the rest.
