A weekend of exciting and entertaining activities awaits Rutgers alumni and friends Oct. 19-21 as the university hosts its annual Homecoming festival in New Brunswick. "A New Jersey State of Mind" serves as this year's theme.
The centerpiece of the weekend's events will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights take on the Navy Midshipmen in a gridiron match kicking off at 3:30 p.m. Prior to the football game, alumni, their families and friends will gather at Festival Fields directly across from Rutgers Stadium for food, music, games and socializing beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Rutgers Glee Club, Queen's Chorale and Alumni Band will provide entertainment, along with jugglers, clowns and magicians. The popular Rutgers Kids Zone, featuring the Liberty Science Center van, will again be part of festival activities. There is no admission charge to Festival Fields. Weather permitting, a fireworks extravaganza will immediately follow the game.
On Friday, Oct. 19, the Rutgers University Alumni Federation will host its annual Alumni Meritorious Service Awards Dinner at Neilson Dining Hall on the Douglass campus. Six individuals and one couple will be honored for their faithful volunteer service in support of alumni and university activities. The weekend concludes with the annual Alumni Homecoming Golf Tournament at the Rutgers Golf Course on the Busch campus Sunday, Oct. 21.
A complete schedule of Homecoming activities is available at the event's Web site. Go to www.rutgers.edu, click on "alumni" and go to "alumni events." Information is also available by calling the alumni relations office at ext. 2-7061.
