Patti Austin to perform tribute to Ella Fitzgerald Archived article from Nov 4, 2002   Kicking off the jazz series at the Camden campus's Center for the Arts is Patti Austin, a performer whose powerful voice goes beyond the conventional jazz art form. Austin will perform in concert Saturday, Nov. 23, at 8 p.m. at the Gordon Theater, singing songs from her new CD, "For Ella,?quot; a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald. The event is sponsored by WRTI Temple Radio. Austin grew up surrounded by music. At the age of 17 she toured with Harry Belafonte and has also performed with such greats as Dinah Washington and Sammy Davis Jr. Her albums include "The Real Me" and "Love is Gonna Getcha."
