Photos and stories to be part of Camden park restoration
Archived article from Mar 6, 2006
People with fond memories – in stories or photos – of Camden’s Johnson Park are invited to share them with the Cooper’s Ferry Development Association and Rutgers-Camden. The two are leading a $2 million restoration of Johnson Park that will include landscaping, restoring the park’s reflecting pools, reconstructing a decorative bronze fence that once surrounded the Peter Pan statue, replacing a missing balustrade wall and creating two small pavilions. Eldridge Johnson, a local inventor whose phonograph helped launch RCA, donated the park and a library to the city of Camden. Those who can share stories or photos should call Meishka Ruiz of Cooper’s Ferry Development Association at 856-757-9154 or Cathy Donovan of Rutgers-Camden at 856-225-6627.
