The School of Communication, Information and Library Studies (SCILS) has received high marks in national rankings on research productivity. The July 2000 issue of the journal Communication Education ranked the 72 schools that offer doctoral programs in communication studies.
Positions were based on the number of top convention papers produced from 1994 through 1998. Rutgers tied for second in organizational communication and in language and social interaction specialties; tied for fourth in mass communication; tied for sixth in feminist and women’s studies; and tied for seventh in political communication.
