A new and improved student services mall was recently introduced on the Newark campus. Located on the third floor of Blumenthal Hall, the administrative services building on campus, it was designed to be easy to use for students and staff. Carol Martancik, associate provost for administration services, confirmed that the response has been tremendous.
"The mall is now more open and brighter, and it is easy for students to determine where they need to go, whether it's the financial aid, business or registrar's office," she explained. "Overall, it is a much warmer and friendlier environment, and students and staff are making a point of telling us how pleased they are with the changes."
The renovation was in the works for two years and is part of the university-wide Quality and Communication Improvement (QCI) program. The project involved several teams of staff members, who planned the floor's new design and outlined a new customer-service approach for the staff.
The mission statement of the services-expectation team set the tone for the entire project: "We are committed to providing quality service in an environment that promotes mutual courtesy, respect and responsibility," it announced.
