Anew travel initiative, announced in the spring by Procurement Services, is now in effect.
Travelers may choose from among five travel agencies. Benefits include waiver of service fees, travel emergency service and hotel overbooking support.
"This is similar to travel programs at other major universities," said Jennifer Weiner, university card and travel administrator. "The new process will benefit individual travelers and university departments."
Highlights include:
A new unit within Procurement Services, University Travel Services, that is dedicated to travel administration. Since the spring, the unit has negotiated discount and added-value agreements with Trans World Airlines, AviStar Airport Parking, State Shuttle and Enterprise Rental Car.
Agreements with five travel agencies: American Colpitt Travel, IT Travel, Middlesex Travel, Ultramar Travel and Worldtek Travel. All specialize in business travel; each has areas of specialization such as group travel and conference/meeting planning.
A new Travel Services Help Desk, located within University Travel Services (ext. 5-2140), staffed each weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A new Web site, www.rutgerstravel.com.
"The new help desk and Web site allow travelers to contact us with questions, comments and suggestions. University Travel Services welcomes the opportunity to attend department meetings and provide presentations," said Weiner.
