Women in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics
Rutgers has a special office and website dedicated to women who work in the fields of science, engineering, and mathematics. On the website, read women’s personal stories that explain what influenced them to pursue their careers: http://sciencewomen.rutgers.eduSuggested Activity:
On the Women in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics website, find the "Our Stories" page: http://sciencewomen.rutgers.edu/profiles/?q=browse&b=stories. Read the stories of at least five scientists. You will see they were all curious about the world around them from the time they were young girls.
- Create a display about these women and work with your troop leader to obtain permission to have it shown at your local library or another organization.
- Tell your troop about one of the women and why you found her so interesting. Include information about your own interests in science or mathematics.
