William Greiner, Retired Staff, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on August 30, 2007.
Born on Oct. 22, 1943, in Waterbury, Conn., William "Bill" Roed Greiner lived in New Jersey for 60 years before moving to St. Michaels, Md., in 2004.
He started his career in finance at Prudential Insurance Company in Newark, then worked for Rutgers University for 27 years, retiring in 2000. An active member of the Rutgers Golf Course Committee, he was an avid golfer, skier, marathon runner, sailor and hiker.
He graduated from Bogota High School Class of 1961, and Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., with a B.S. degree in economics in 1965, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He received a second degree in accounting from Rutgers University in 1978, and was a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Diana G. Sable; a sister, Lois R. Campbell and brother-in-law, William Campbell of North Brunswick; two nephews, Andrew Campbell of New Brunswick and Joseph Campbell of Highland Park; a grandnephew, Ryan Campbell, and grandniece, Reese Campbell. He was preceded in death by his father, William G. Greiner and mother, Elzie R. Greiner.
