Kathleen F. Powers, Active Faculty, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on August 09, 2007. Instructor and PhD student Powers was a member of the Women's Gender & Studies Department.
Celebration of Kathleen's life by family and friends will take place later in the Fall of 2007 amidst the rugged beauty of a mountain setting near Tucson, Arizona.
Kathleen (Kate) Frances Powers was born in Wisconsin and resided in
Jersey City when she died. Kate was a world traveler, who had most recently attended a Dubrovnik Summer Seminar at Belgrade Inter-University Center in Croatia. A self-taught musician, particularly gifted at guitar and drums, she most recently played in NYC with her band, Stunner Thrum. She was preceded in death by her brother, best friend and soul-mate, Michael Raymond Powers. Kathleen is survived by her mother Jeannine Howell; sisters Christi, Colleen, Maureen and Jenny; and six nieces and nephews. Rutgers University Women’s and Gender Studies Department has established The Kathleen Powers Dubrovnik Summer Seminar Scholarship in honor of her memory and scholarly excellence.
