Joseph V. Hamburger, Alumnus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on December 21, 2007. Joseph was a member of the Rutgers Class of 1974.
Joseph Victor "Jersey Joe" Hamburger, Delta blues musician,
writer, and drug and alcohol counselor died December 21, 2007, at Hershey Medical Center of complications following bladder cancer surgery. He was 64 and lived in Bellefonte, PA. He graduated from Rutgers with a B.A. in Psychology in
1974, and earned his M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling at Virginia
Commonwealth University in 1994. He leaves his wife Susan; five cats; a brother and sister-in-law, Drs. Max and Frances Hamburger, of Dix Hills, N.Y.; two nephews and a niece, Jordan, Brian, and Micole Hamburger; second cousin Martha Gold and her daughter Linda Cangin, of Maryland; aunt Audrey Friedland, of New York City; and friends scattered across the country.
In lieu of flowers, Joe requested that donations be made in his memory to the National Association for Children of Alcoholics, 11426 Rockville Pike, Suite 301, Rockville, MD 20852.
