David A. Gant, Retired Staff, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on April 03, 2010. Mr. Gant was a member of the the Plant Biology & Pathology Department. Mr. Gant was an alumnus of the Class of 1974.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 and from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 7 until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
David A. Gant Sr., 65, of Wall Township, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Point Pleasant, he had lived in Brick before moving to Wall 35 years ago. He had a vacation home on the Outer Banks of North Carolina (Avon), which he enjoyed traveling to with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and loved the beach. He was a 1974 graduate of Rutgers University, and then went on to work as a farm supervisor at the Rutgers University Research Farm for 38 years before retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Pierce Memorial Church, Farmingdale.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Constance A. Hanson Gant; his children and their spouses, David A. Jr. and wife Karen of South River, Wayne and wife Denise of Keyport, and Darlene and Joe Panzera of Belfair, Wash.; his brother, Paul Gant and wife Lynn of Delta, Pa.; his sister, Claire Schaaf and husband Raymond of Avon, N.C.; and his five grandchildren, Samantha, Robert, Jason, Katelyn, and Brianna.
