Katherine M. Wood, Retired Faculty, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on February 23, 2010. Professor Wood taught at the School of Social Work.

Katherine M. Wood, 81, died February 23, 2010, at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. Katherine was born in New York City, NY and was formerly of Atlantic Highlands, Cranford and Somerset before moving to Bridgewater in 1997. Katherine held a B.A. from Ladycliff College and earned a Ph.D. in social work from Rutgers University. She was employed as a Professor at Rutgers University, teaching at the Graduate School of Social Work in New Brunswick for 26 years, retiring in 1996. She was a communicant of St. Agnes RC Church in Atlantic Highlands. Katherine enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and especially loved knitting. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ellen Gleeson Maloney; her brother, Martin Maloney, and her sister Eileen Maloney. Surviving are her children, Michael Wood, Pamela Irving and her husband John, Patricia Wingfield and her husband Gregory, a brother Patrick Maloney and his wife Theresa of Red Bank; and two sisters, Mary Murphy and her husband Terence of Mamaroneck, N.Y., and Joanne Dobson and her husband Raymond of Cape Cod, Mass. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Robert, Hall, Jessica and Caitlin, and 2 great grandchildren, Michael and Connor.
