SÚrgio Coutinho de Biasi was 39 years old and a graduate student in Computer Science. Arriving at Rutgers in the Fall of 2008, he was a devoted teacher of algorithms and discrete mathematics, earning high ratings from his students for his enthusiasm, clarity, and creativity. Sergio and his advisor, Prof. Bahman Kalantari, were working on a construct in computational geometry they called mollified zone diagrams. He was also an advocate of his advisor's research, creating an inspiring video of Kalantari's Polynomiography images augmented with his own beautiful piano composition. He was a contributing member of the Rutgers Graduate Student Association. He is survived by his parents and brother in Brazil and his gentle generosity will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
