Peter Parks, died on 04/02/2012. Professor Parks was a member of the Agricultural, Food, & Resource Economics Department.
The family is planning a memorial commemoration of Peterís life on Sunday, April 15th at Rutgers Gardens. Details of that event, as well as a proposed fund for donations, will follow shortly.
It is with great sadness that I report that Professor Peter Parks passed away early this morning, after a year-long battle with cancer. Peter joined the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics in 1993 after beginning his academic career at Duke University. He specialized in environmental and resource economics, focusing in recent years on land use analysis. Peter was a dedicated and popular teacher in our undergraduate program. He was also a dedicated and loyal friend who did more than his share of department service, mentored junior faculty without being asked, and used his considerable intellect to publish in (and just as frequently, edit) the fieldís top journals, while at the same time helping his colleagues solve their own problems of management or scholarship. A father of two, Peter combined incredible scholarly focus with a positive, spiritual outlook on life. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
