James M. Furlong of Leisure Knoll, Manchester, New Jersey, passed away on January 17, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He worked as a communications supervisor at Rutgers–New Brunswick for 15 years before retiring in 2005.
Born in the Bronx, New York, he lived in Spotswood and Old Bridge, New Jersey, before moving to Manchester 11 years ago. He was an Air Force veteran of Vietnam and served 17 years in both the Air Force and later in the Army.
He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Elizabeth Furlong, a son, Dominick , and two brothers, Edward and Daniel Furlong. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy, a son, James, a daughter, Maria, and a step-daughter, Heidi Spitzer. Also surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Gush, Christine Donato, and a brother, David.
As per his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private cremation will take place and his cremated remains will be interred privately at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown at a later date.
