Sylvia G. Wolkstein
Sylvia Gladys Wolkstein, of Verona, N.J., retired assistant to the provost at Rutgers University–Newark, passed away on October 4, 2015, one week shy of her 90th birthday.
Funeral services were held on October 7, 2015, at the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston, N.J.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Wolkstein received her bachelor of arts degree when she was 60. She worked for Rutgers for 25 years before retiring as assistant to the provost at Rutgers–Newark. Among her many activities, Wolkstein served as a Girl Scout leader and was an active member of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin; a son, Andrew; a daughter, Mindy Ellen; a daughter-in-law, Barbara; a son-in-law, Frank; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
