Claire A. Krucher
Claire A. Krucher, former associate director of the universityís Career Services, passed away on February 5, 2016, in Somerset, N.J.
Funeral services were held on February 13 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, N.J. 08873. Burial was in George Washington Cemetery, Paramus.
Krucher retired in 2002 as associate director of Career Services after more than 40 years of service to Rutgers.
Born in Hoboken and raised in North Bergen, she resided in Dayton, N.J., for most of her life. She attended Douglass College as a scholarship recipient, majoring in psychology and graduating in 1955, and earned a masterís degree in vocational counseling from Columbia University.
Krucher served the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College in many roles, including treasurer of the Middlesex County Douglass Alumnae Club; president of the Princeton Area Douglass Alumnae Club; class president, vice president, and secretary; alumnae council representative, and chair of the class of 1955ís 15th and 50th reunion committees. She had also been the Douglass alumnae representative to the Rutgers Board of Trustees and Rutgers Alumni Federation representative to the Rutgers University Senate.
In recognition of her devotion to the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College, she received the Douglass Alumnae Recognition Award in 1974, the Margaret T. Corwin Award in 1998, the Douglass Medal in 2001, the Rutgers University Alumni Meritorious Service Award in 2007, and the Vanguard Service Award in 2010.
Krucher also was a board member of the YWCA of Central New Jersey, serving as secretary and president, and volunteered with the Animal Rescue Force. She was a longtime member of the Grove Reformed Church in North Bergen. She positively impacted the lives of many and will be remembered warmly by her sister alumnae and many colleagues and friends.
