Joseph P. Zawadsky
Joseph Peter Zawadsky, 86, professor emeritus, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, passed away on June 25, 2016, at his home in Princeton. Funeral services were held on June 29 at the Princeton University Chapel.
Zawadsky was one of the original faculty members in the RWJMS Department of Surgery in 1971. He was the founding chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and directed the orthopaedic surgery resident program from 1976 until 1998. He had also been academic chair of the Orthpaedic Department and served as a professor of orthopaedic surgery until his retirement in 1999.
Zawadsky had also been a vice president of the American Orthopaedic Association, a national orthopaedic board examiner, and the chief of orthopaedic surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital until he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; a sister, Marley; a brother-in-law, John O’Neill; six children, and 15 grandchildren.
