Scott Cagenello, Active Faculty, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on August 25, 2006. Associate Dean/Dean of Students Cagenello was a member of the Mason Gross School of the Arts.
A memorial gathering with Tim, Scott's companion, and the Cagenello/Needham family will be held on Wednesday, August 30, from 7-9 p.m. at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road, Monmouth Jct., NJ (732 329-2000). A memorial service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31, at 11 a.m. A university memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 5, at 4 p.m. in Kirkpatrick Chapel on the Rutgers campus.
Scott Cagenello handled curricular matters and student affairs for, and was the much-beloved advisor to the students of, Mason Gross School of the Arts. He oversaw commencement exercise and taught writing to students in Theater Arts and Athletics. Scott was a warm and gracious emissary for Mason Gross in the Rutgers and New Brunswick communities. He was well known for his spirit and humor, and his administrative gifts will be greatly missed.

Mason Gross School of the Arts has established a commencement award in his name, to be known as the “Scott Cagenello Memorial Prize.” It will be given each year to a Mason Gross student who has shown special commitment to helping others in the school or in the university community. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the award fund by sending a check, made out to “Rutgers Foundation – Cagenello Fund,” c/o Charlotte Mitchell, Office of the Dean, Mason Gross School of the Arts, 33 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
