Thomas R. Meehan, Alumnus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died on October 03, 2006. Thomas was a member of the Rutgers Newark Class of 1949.
After serving with the Army in the Pacific Theater in WWII, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star, he returned to his studies at Rutgrs Newark on the GI Bill and graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. He received his Masters Degree from Rutgers with a concentration in American History and Political Science, and received his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He taught until his retirement in 1987 at Oregon State University, where he was one of the most popular professors. Dr. Meehan earned the Oregon State Outstanding Teacher Award in 1963. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Garbarini Meehan.
