When is Rutgers Magazine published?
Three times a year: late-January, May, and September.

Who receives it?
The magazine is distributed to nearly 430,000 alumni and friends as well as Rutgers faculty and staff, legislators, local government officials, and high school counselors around the state.

How can I receive the magazine?
All Rutgers alumni receive the magazine. Donors who contribute at least $100 annually to the university also receive the magazine.

What is the history of Rutgers Magazine?
The magazine began in 1914 as Rutgers Alumni Quarterly and became Rutgers Monthly in 1921 and Rutgers Alumni Magazine in 1969. In 1987, the Department of University Relations began publishing Rutgers Magazine, which today is jointly published by the Department of University Communications and Marketing and the Department of Alumni Relations.

Where can I find alumni news?
The Department of Alumni Relations assembles the Alumni Notes section of Rutgers Magazine. Visit www.Ralumni.com for more alumni news, such as the monthly Rutgers Alumni eNewsletter and the Rutgers Alumni Online Community.

How do I get a back issue of the magazine (if it is available)?
Send your request to: rutgersmagazine@ucm.rutgers.edu. Or fax your request to 732-445-5925.

How do I submit a letter to the editor?
Rutgers Magazine will consider letters that address stories appearing in the magazine. Letters will be edited for clarity and length because of space limitations. Alumni should include school and class year. Email your letter to rutgersmagazine@ucm.rutgers.edu or fax it to 732-445-5925 or mail it to: Editor, Rutgers Magazine, 96 Davidson Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854-8062.

How should I propose a story idea for the magazine?
Email or mail a query to rutgersmagazine@ucm.rutgers.edu or Rutgers Magazine, 96 Davidson Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854-8062. Include one or more published stories if you are seeking a writing assignment. Somebody from the magazine will contact you if the editorial staff is interested. Unsolicited manuscripts, photos, or artwork will not be returned.

David W. Major
has been the editor-in-chief of New Jersey-based publications for 25 years. Most recently, he was the founding editor-in-chief of New Jersey Life magazine. Before that, he edited Princeton Living, a Sunday magazine that appeared monthly in the Newark Star-Ledger and the Times of Trenton. He was also the editor of Time Off, the weekend entertainment magazine of the Princeton Packet newspaper group.

Art Director
John VanCleaf
is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, began his career in the Manhattan-based design studios of Mayo/Inferna-Saatchi & Saatchi and Edward M. Meyers Associates and came to Rutgers in 1986. He also serves as assistant director/graphics in the Creative Services division of University Relations.
